| Who are the candidates for mastopaxy? |
| Mastopaxy is performed in breasts, which are not to large but have sagged producing a situation called Breast Ptosis. In this condition the nipple areola complex and infact the whole breast is comes down below inframammary fold lines. |

| The Procedure |
|
Procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the degree of ptosis, surgical procedure is planned. Some skin excision is planned for shifting of nipple areola complex to a superior level. The glandular tissue is plicated into a more conical shape. The resultant scar is like reduction mammaplasty with lower horizontal scar which is less in extent then reduction mammaplasty.
More recently periareolar Matopaxy has become very popular because the resultant scar is around the nipple areola complex only but the technical feasibility and the immediate appearance of breast after surgery should be thoroughly discussed with the surgeon.
Some degrees of ptosis can also be corrected using augmentation mammaplasty is the breast size is small. |

| Post op care is much same like reduction mammaplasty but the recovery is significantly faster because it is less extensive procedure. |
